We all have people who we look up to or think are very good at something, in my case I had a few people I can put my style and way of thinking down to. The first real presenter I will always recall would be Johnny Lewis who is on Radio Caroline, Johnny has a style back in 1986 like no other that was on the air at the time. Johnny always seem to pick some good tunes be that a top ten hit or an album track from the 70s, I have spoken to Johnny many times and I try to keep in some sort of contact with him. The other person who really had a big influence on me would be Dave Gallagher, Dave joined Pipeline radio in the early 2000s and was a really different presenters to all the others at the time. I will always remember how Dave would play some really strange songs on albums nobody ever knew about, I will always remember the tracks he liked most like "Tim Buckley" "Pink Floyd" "Dan Baird" "Jayhawks". Pipeline at the time was more of a rock station, Dave came along and added for what I call the Icing on the cake its a shame Dave took the door out of radio I am sure he would have been a hit on Nevis Radio!
If Dave was to turn up on my door and say I want a way back in, I am sure we could sort something out for him it would not take him long to get back. The other big influence on me has been my Uncle Peter Andrews who is now a presenter on Raiders Broadcast, people are always pointing out his weekness but his music know how is better than anyone else. For that I will say now you know who has done it for me, I wonder if Dave Gallagher for example ever knew the fact he had a big part in my format now on Nevis Radio.
